College Kick Off Month

Throughout the month of October, Poplarville High School students will focus on college activities. College Kick Off month stared with the the annual college and career fair last week. Over 20 organizations were represented at the fair and all juniors and seniors attended. The fair was open to all students during break.

A group of focus teachers across all disciplines at PHS are facilitating specific tasks each week to help prepare seniors for the opportunities that lie ahead. From timelines and resumes last week to completing college applications this week, our focus teachers are breaking down barriers in their classrooms. Students will hear from Dr. Pinero from Pearl River Community College this week and our seniors will tour PRCC later this month. Our FAFSA day will be October 23rd, allowing students and parents to meet with a financial aid expert to complete the FAFSA. Students will also complete the Mississippi financial aid application at that time.

It’s important for our students to know about the career and scholarship opportunities available to them, and we’re hoping a month long event will help empower students to explore what all is available in our community, state and more. For a full list of college kick off activities, visit the PHS Counselor Blog.
