SCHOOL SPIRIT:

Last Friday, Poplarville High School showed their school spirit during the first pep rally of the year. The theme was ‘Purge the Golden Tornadoes.’ Students were encouraged to dress in all black in order to show their school pride. The seniors dominated in the fight song competition which allowed the senior class to take home the Spirit Stick. 

           

 

VOLLEYBALL NEWS:

The Poplarville Hornet Volleyball Team played two matches last week. The Hornets won their match Tuesday at home against Lumberton 3-1. However they lost to Purvis 3-0 Thursday. The Volleyball Hornets are now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in Region 7-4A. The Lady Hornets Volleyball team is about to do their best to get a win in this upcoming district game Thursday, at Perry Central. The JV will play at 5pm and Varsity will play at 6pm.  Be sure to come and encourage your teams as they play for your school.

 

 

FOOTBALL NEWS:

Friday Night, Poplarville faced their first matchup against Laurel. Our Hornets played a hard fought game against the Golden Tornadoes which ended in a 21-14 defeat. The hard work of the defense held a 14-7 lead until late in the 4th quarter. Chase Shears achieved an 83 yard touchdown which helped his team take the lead for a short time, but the Tornadoes were able to put two scores up in the 4th which allowed them to win. On August 30th the Hornets will travel to PRC to face the Blue Devils at 7pm. Be sure to come out and see our boys play another intense game in the name of their school.
