Students Take Part in Portable Health Classroom Lessons

Portable Health Class Students Working

Mrs. Tammy Smith’s class was introduced to the USDA My Food Pyramid along with Choose My Plate which instructs on food groups, portion sizes and exercise. A hands on activity using artificial foods helped students identify which foods you should have daily versus every once in a while, to which food group the item belonged  and how to make a healthy balanced plate.  Parents can find more activities and resources for their family at choosemyplate.gov.

A lesson in hygiene was provided for students in Mrs. Susan Keith’s class.  Afterwards, the school nurse read the book Germs! Germs! Germs! By Bobbi Katz and students created an art project to help them remember to cover their coughs!
