2 Powerlifting Finalists Advance to the State Championship

The PHS Powerlifting Team’s 7 finalists of the 2017 Regional Powerlifting Meet competed in the South State Championship on Saturday, March 18th at South Pike High School.  Two finalists from Poplarville earned a spot in the Class 4A Powerlifting State Championship which will be Thursday, April 13th and Friday, April 14th in Jackson, Mississippi.

Turan Smith, a 131.4 pound senior, came in 2nd place in his weight class 132.

Roosevelt Raine, a 206.4 junior, came in 3rd place in his weight class 220.

Turan and Roosevelt are 2 out of 6 boys in the state that are competing in each weight class.  We are extremely proud of you both!  Good luck this week!
