Seventh Grade ELA is in the Mood for Food

After discussing credible sources, MLA citations, and plot elements of The Red Pyramid, Mrs. Aube and Ms. Murray’s language arts classes spent a week researching and preparing a recipe of their choice for class presentation.

According to the project’s requirements, the recipe chosen had to be linked to the setting of The Red Pyramid or another text read during the first nine weeks and demonstrate procedural text structure.  Students then researched menus, restaurants reviews, and tourist information to prove that a character from their text “could have eaten” the food while in the narrative’s setting.  Finally, students presented their research and brought along samples of their chosen recipe to share with their class.
