2014-2015 Writing Club is Getting Started at MSP

Writing Club is an open group for seventh and eighth students at the Middle School of Poplarville during which students gather to exercise their creative writing muscle. Hosted by Nicole Aube, the students work with her during this “sixth” period every Monday (3:30-4:30) to learn the elements of poetry and narrative craft as well as nonfiction writing techniques based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Finally, the students collaborate to create an anthology of their best writings and publish it at the close of the school year for the students, teachers, and parents of MSP. The club’s work is regularly featured on the school’s website, and it has also been featured on WLOX.

Writing Club begins its meetings on Monday, September 15, in room 714, at 3:30. Any student interested in joining should pick up a permission form from Mrs. Aube prior to September 15. Sixth grade students may join via teacher recommendation.
