Friday, 26 February 2010 |
FBLA members at PHS are raising funds in order to go to Fairhope, Alabama, in April for Earth Day Mobile Bay 2010. This will be the second year the students will attend the festival. Last year the club took all scrap computers from the high school and transported them to the Fairhope Public Works Department for recycling. We hope to take scrap electronics from some of the other schools in the district this year.
We will be using the Funding Factory rewards program to collect old cell phones and printer ink cartridges for recycling. Please save all such items and donate them to the FBLA so that this years trip can be even better than the last. Your items can be dropped off at the Career Development Center or at the main office at PHS, or we will pick up at any local business within the city limits. Please contact Mrs. Donna Storrs at

Carolyn Seals Fifth Grade Discovery students at PUE have just completed a simulation entitled Agency. Agency was designed to give students insight into the psychology and production of advertising in America. The simulation examined various rules, techniques, tricks, and gimmicks that are used to promote and sell everything from deodorants to computers. The students began by examining different types of advertising such as television commercials, magazine ads, and billboards. Legitimate and legal techniques were studied as well as unethical and often illegal techniques such as half-true statements and misleading photography. Students became members of one of 8 advertising agencies. Each agency chose two products for which they completed total advertising campaigns including billboards, magazine ads, and radio and television commercials. All of the agencies did a wonderful job on their campaigns. |
