A food and toy
drive, sponsored by the PHS DECA Club, the MSP Student Council and ARM members
helped students and staff embrace the spirit of Christmas, practice giving, and
provide hope to families in our area who are experiencing hardships. A
tremendous amount of new toys and nonperishable food items were collected and
donated to Brothers Keeper Ministries.
The staff of Brothers Keeper Ministries will distribute the toys and
food to families in need in our local communities.
Christmas is a
time of added expense, and many of our families are struggling due to the
ongoing recession. We thank everyone for your time, effort and generous spirit in making the 2009 Food and Toy Drive a successful event.

After Hurricane Katrina, we were
personally touched by the unconditional love of donors to World Vision, a
Christian organization that works to help families and communities to tackle
the causes of poverty, helping nearly 100 million people in nearly 100
countries each year. Each year, the
teachers and students received large amounts of classroom supplies donated from
World Vision. It was truly a blessing,
and we thought it would be great to give back.
This year, we asked our first grade
students to bring some of their spare change to raise $25 to send two chickens
to a family in need. The chickens would
provide a daily supply of eggs to hungry children. We greatly exceeded our goal by raising
around $200! We were able to donate a
goat, eight chickens, and two soccer balls to families in need! The children loved knowing that their gift
changed lives, and that they gave a gift that really mattered. To learn more
about our gift, you can go on-line at www.worldvisiongifts.org. |

The PHS Singers put on a fantastic Madrigal Dinner Saturday 12 th. They had over 200 attendees.
The college cafeteria was overnight transformed into a majestic castle for all the guests to enjoy. There were a variety of table and stage skits that were performed including a medieval QVC skit presenting new inventions such as the spork and a lighter. Once the toasts had been made and the meal had been approved by the king (Wilson Wise) the night began. The students produced their lines while dressed in their outlandish costumes. Thirteen little princesses came in ringing bells at the beginning and they also participated in a story time segment of the dinner show.
It was our tenth and one of the most enjoyable that we have done. The highlights for me were the princesses from the upper and lower elementary and a sellout crowd!Said Mrs. Janet Kennedy(director)
Once the skits were all performed the night sifted into a more serious mood as the Singers ended the evening with a concert portion accompanied with spoken lines to explain symbols used during the Christmas season.
It was a really good experience and they did a awesome job with dressing up the cafeteria to fit the time period.
Overall the night was a great success and they look forward to the next one! |

Mrs. Stacy s third grade class has been hosting Flat Stanleys from across the United States. Each student also sent one to be hosted by various schools across the country. Students have enjoyed receiving information about the various locations, as well as pictures of their Flat Stanleys sightseeing. One Flat Stanley even got to attend the Hannah Montana concert! Our Flat Stanleys have visited Texas, Hawaii, Ohio, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, Nebraska, Connecticut, and even Canada. We have a great time with our Flat Stanley Project . We have also learned about other areas of our country. |
