Hornets Grab Win in Season Opener |

 Congratulations to the PHS football team on their victory last Friday night against the PRC blue devils. It was a close game keeping Hornet fans on their toes, but in end the Hornets pulled off the victory by defending the goal line on the last play of the game and handed the Devils a 28-21 defeat. This was a great way to start the season with a win on the home field and the team hopes that their hard work continues to pay off.
“That’s what we’ve been working for,” said head coach Chris Teal.
The Hornets will travel to Lumberton this Friday night (Sept 4, 2009) to take on the Lumberton Panthers. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm.

 Technology that encourages interactive learning can be an effective tool for teaching reading and math. At PUE students are using interactive programs to evaluate reading and math levels in effort to provide a more individualized educational program. At this time students are completing, STAR Reading, and Math activities. Mrs. Jackie Travis, computer lab facilitator, helps students stay engaged with programs that meet their specific learning goals. |

Softball Lady Hornets Continue To Win |

 Continuing their impressive season, this weekend the 8th ranked PHS Lady Hornets swept the competition at the Enterprise Tournament on Saturday, August 29, 2009 winning 11 - 1 against Union, 9 -4 against 3rd ranked Newton Co, and 10 - 0 against Neshoba Central.
The girls compete tomorrow night (Sept 1) against the Purvis Lady 'Naders at Purvis.

 For the first time in over ten years the entire Poplarville School District is making additional space to the schools. These additions are badly needed as over crowded class rooms are a big issue at each of the schools due to the Poplarville Districts enrollment growing each year.
“We definitely need more space so anything we can get in to that regard is good,” said Principal Lynn Payne of the Poplarville Upper Elementary.
The students at the Lower Elementary are getting two new classrooms, new doors on the main building, and a new sidewalk and covered area leading to the kindergarten, first grade, and second grade buildings.
The Upper Elementary students are getting four new classrooms since their numbers are larger than the rest of the schools.
The Middle School students are getting two new classes, air conditioning in the gym and new boys and girls restrooms to the gym as well.
Finally, the High School students are getting two new classrooms and renovating the restrooms in the gym to be handicap accessible.
