The Poplarville High School Boys’ Soccer Team hosted their first home game of the season on Thursday, November 6th by shutting out Perry Central with a score of 8-0!  The High School Girls’ JV Team also posted a win against Perry Central with a score of 4-0!   

On Tuesday, November 11th, both of our varsity teams played their first district game against Pearl River Central.  The girls came out on top with a score of 2-1.  Our guys played a hard fought game but fell short with the final score at 5-3.  This year’s season promises to be an exciting one!  We are proud of these talented players and encourage everyone to come out and support this year’s soccer program.

Ray G., a fourth grader in Ms Cottrell's homeroom, is PUE's first "Perfect Attendance Winner."  David Johnson, owner of Quality Electrical Heating & Air Conditioning, has donated four Memorex Portable CD/Boomboxes to be given away at the end of each nine weeks for perfect attendance.  All students that have perfect attendance for each grading period have their name put in a drawing for the CD/Boombox.  Congratulations, Ray!

 

The students enrolled in the Spanish courses this semester participated in the celebration of “El Día de los Muertos” last Friday. The event consisted of a lunch prepared by the Culinary Arts students. The main dishes included quesadillas, taco salads, and tacos. For dessert the students enjoyed a cinnamon shell with ice-cream. Colorful streamers and wooden skeletons painted by the Spanish students decorated the Hornet Grill.

 

This event served to recreate the festivity of El Día de los Muertos as it is celebrated in México. The three day celebration runs from October 31 to November 2 and it pays tribute to the memory of family members who had passed away. 

 

The PUE Library is hosting a book fair from 8-3 Tuesday through Thursday and 8-12 on Friday. We will also have a Family Afternoon from 3-5 Tuesday. There are books and various items from Preschool to Adult including cookbooks, holiday books, computer games, and gift items. Stop by and do some Christmas shopping.
