Monday, 29 September 2008 |
On September 11, 2008, the classes in the Career Discovery Center took a field trip to Camp Shelby in a career-related tour. Each group had military personnel who led us on a bus towards our destinations. Our first stop was at the foods and transportation site, where MREs were being dispersed across the camp. The group was given MREs to check for freshness, which they ate. The site was very large with a freezer about the size of the CDC building!
We loaded into our bus to go to the next site and were all amazed at the huge field of tanks we passed. Our next stop was relevant to tank mechanics and maintenance. We were taken outside for a demonstration as the military personnel informed us on our career opportunities within camp Shelby.

Superintendent Carl Merritt Cooks for Culinary Technology II Class |
|
|
|
|
Monday, 29 September 2008 |
Mr. Carl Merritt visited the Culinary Technology II class on
September 26, 2008. Mr. Merritt cooked
homemade chicken and egg noodles for the Culinary Arts II students. The students enjoyed the meal and the
demonstration.
Mr. Merritt said, I was
the only male student in my high school home economics class. My teacher taught me how to cook, sew, tie a
tie and treat my fellow female classmates with respect and courtesy.
Mr. Merritt loves good food and loves cooking
his favorite old-fashioned dishes for his family. He believes that the older generation should
spend more time teaching the young people of today their traditions in the
kitchen and around the home. |
