The red, white and blue colors of the Poinciana High School Eagles were running true on Friday, January 27th, 2006 . That?s when Poplarville High School received a generous gift of $10,000, and a visit from a representative of Poinciana High School who had had some previous experience with hurricanes to share. Arriving on his own time and travelling by air using his own money was Mr. Jeff Arnott, one of four Assistant Principals at Poinciana High School, located in suburban Kissimmee, Florida .
Mr. Arnott, who has been with Poinciana High School for just the past two years, presented the check to Poplarville High School Principal Mr. Carl Merritt and Assistant Principal Mr. Gary Wayne Malley. With this very generous check, Mr. Arnott also brought the hopes and good wishes of the big-hearted students of Poinciana, all of whom sent warm greetings in light of their appreciation and understanding of Poplarville High School?s post-hurricane re-building and recovery efforts.

The Poplarville High School Hornets Boys Basketball Team is
off to a great start. As of press time, the Hornets are undefeated with an
impressive 7-0 record. There is a lot of action with the up-tempo fast break
offense. Coach Miller states, “We have a long way to go before we perfect this
style of play. We are still learning the how to play hard the entire game.”
Darious Hart is the lone senior starter for the Hornets. Brandon Peters, Ike
Bowden, and Niko Tillman are the starting juniors. Sophomore J.J. Richardson and freshman Lavelle Henry
round out the remaining starters this team this season. Moving up to a powerful
4-A division will be a huge mountain to climb this year. The success this year
will depend on our hustle and a total team effort. Jonh Miller, Luchious Moore,
and Glen Barber are the Hornet Coaching Staff.
