High School
Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:55

Freshmen are known as the underdogs of the high school.  There are a new group of them every year.  Freshman year is the most critical year for high school students.  Most freshmen don’t know this, but it’s where it all starts.

Tips and advice for freshmen are essential to help them succeed.

Here are some:

  • Make good first impressions, especially on teachers
  • Find a group of people to sit with at lunch as soon as possible
  • Find someone who you can follow to class
  • Do not procrastinate
  • Try to make some friends
  • Even if you aren’t having a good day, try to stay positive
  • Talk to lots of people – the popular people , shy people, people in your class, etc.
  • Do not lose touch with your friends
  • Accept change
  • Study, Study, Study, STUDY!!!
  • Be involved in some sort of extracurricular activity and after school activities
  • Be organized
  • Keep and agenda or a ‘To Do’ List
  • Be yourself
  • Don’t give in to peer pressure

I went out to ask the seniors of Poplaville High School some advice they want to give to the underclassmen and upcoming freshmen:

Sara Price:

“Enjoy your high school career while it last. And don’t DROP OUT!”

        Dakota Thomas:

“Make everyday count because there going to fly by!”

        Larke Bickham:

“Don’t wait to late to start trying”

        Jared Johnson:

“Focus on all your grades; they do matter!’

Students in Mrs. Johnson’s third grade class participated in aerodynamics while learning about the metric measurement system. Students designed an airplane and then tested its length of flight by using metric measurements. The kids enjoyed working together and using math to see how far each plane flew and how certain models make some planes fly farther.
