FOOTBALL NEWS

The Hornet Football Team repeated as 4A South State Champions Friday with a 38-14 win over Lawrence County. The win has the Hornets playing in their 3rd State Championship Game in the last 4 years!  The 2019 4A State Championship game will be played at M.M. Roberts Stadium on the campus of USM in Hattiesburg Saturday, December 7th, at 11am. The Hornets will face the 4A North Champs Corinth. See all State Championship information below and make plans to support the Hornets Saturday in Hattiesburg.

Admission and Tickets

Admission to the State Championship Game is $15 at the gate Saturday.  Pre-sale tickets can be purchased on-line at www.gofan.co for $14.  PHS will receive half of all pre-sale proceeds, so please purchase tickets on-line early.

Box office and Gates open at 9am.

Poplarville will be the home team and will occupy the west side of the stadium.  Hornet Fans should access the stadium through Gate 3.

M.M. Roberts Stadium has a clear bag policy which will be enforced at the gate.

Video taping is prohibited.

Umbrellas, air horns, cannons and propane heaters are prohibited.

Outside food, drink, and coolers will not be allowed into the stadium.

Alcohol, Drugs, Tobacco, and Firearms are prohibited. 

Hornet Walk- Support the Hornets Saturday as they walk into the Stadium at 9:15am.  The Hornet Walk will be on the South end of the stadium on College Dr.

Text to Win- Blue Cross Blue & Shield of Mississippi is providing an opportunity to win $1000 for your school. Win $1000 for PHS by texting GRIDIRON7 to 55333.  The 4A School with the most texts at the end of the 3rd quarter Saturday wins. Competition begins 12-2-19.

BASKETBALL NEWS

The Poplarville girls basketball team played an away game in Gulfport on Tuesday, November 26th. The team played hard but lost with a resulting score of 22-35. Both boys and girls basketball teams have two upcoming games this week: Tuesday the 3rd, at home against Picayune. JV begins  at 5:00, Girls at 6pm, and varsity boys at 7:30. Then another game in Sumrall, Friday the 6th with JV starting a 5pm, Girls at 6pm, and varsity boys at 7:30.

SOCCER NEWS

The Poplaville varsity girls and boys soccer teams played a home game against Pass Christian on November 19, 2019. It was a close loss by the girls resulting in 1-0. The varsity boys won with the score, 0-1. Poplarville High School varsity boys’ soccer team played a home game against Picayune on December 2, 2019, with a win of 3-1. On the same day, varsity girls’ soccer team scored with a win of 4-1. Two goals were scored by Juliana Wells, one goal scored by Jaycee Bridgers, and one goal was scored by Blair Alexander.  Junior varsity and varsity girls’ games start at 4:00/5:30 p.m. Junior varsity boys’ soccer game on Tuesday starts at 7:00 p.m. Both junior varsity and varsity boys’ game starts 5:00/7:30 p.m
