MSP 8th Graders are going the Distance

Eight grade Science students in Mrs. Hester’s classes have been studying the Scientific Method through hands on activities.  Students were presented with the question, “What type of paper airplane will fly the farthest distance?”  Students had to create a hypothesis and test out their predictions.  The classes discussed the various biases they had about their airplane designs.  Students then ran 8 trials testing their airplanes so that their data was accurate.  After all data was collected they worked together to draw conclusions from the airplane flight results.  Students were eager in exploring the Scientific Method and coming up with other questions they had that they felt could be answered with the Scientific Method.
